The vegan diet has been growing in popularity for quite some time. More and more people are choosing to adopt a plant-based diet, whether it is for health reasons or ethical reasons. Whilst it used to be a highly uncommon diet, it can now be much harder to avoid providing a good vegan menu. Has veganism become mainstream?
There are now lots of restaurants that are offering a decent selection of vegan dishes. Vegan restaurants have really taken off and a number exist that offer high-quality, high-class food – not just salads. Lots of pop-up restaurants and market stalls in food courts also offer tasty and varied vegan options.
However, it still seems rather rare for restaurants to offer a wide selection of vegan options on their regular menus. Many will just provide one option at the most, and this may be unimaginative. Whilst veganism is certainly more popular, it is perhaps not quite mainstream just yet.
